Sharyn Kervyn de Volkaersbeke is passionate about wine. Her entire professional career has been devoted to this Industry; learning and sharing her knowledge with the staff she trains, at lectures, seminars, and with fellow enthusiasts in the wine organizations to which she belongs. Sharyn is a member of the Association of Wine Educators (AWE), a prestigious group of individuals committed to Inform, Inspire and Educate. She is also a member of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET), Society of Wine Educators (SWE), a ‘Tastevin’ level member of The Dionysian Wine Society Intenational and the American Wine Society (AWS). For AWS, she served as the National Tasting Project Chair from 2016 to 2021, Regional Vice President from 2017 to 2019 and is currently a national wine educator and creator of WineSmarts II. She is a Certified Wine Judge with Merit (CWJM) with AWS, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) with SWE, and Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. Sharyn is also a WSET Diploma graduate with honors (dipWSET, their highest level 4, a prerequisite to Master of Wine). In addition, Sharyn teaches wine education at area colleges.
As an International Wine Judge, Sharyn has been judging annually for Amateur and Commercial Competitions across the country since 2010, including renowned International Competitions such as the Sommelier’s Choice Awards, USA Wine Ratings, Texas International, The Great American and the Finger Lakes International. She has also judged OIV Frankfurt International and invitations to judge OIV Berlin and Women’s International Trophy competitions in Europe.
